Confe’s participation at the 11th Session of the CRPD Committee

On April 7 the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will meet with the Mexican delegation of civil society organizations formed by people with disabilities, representatives of organizations and human rights advocates. They will explain the situation is in Mexico regarding the implementation process of the CRPD, since it was ratified 6 years ago , in order to establish the list of issues that will be officially presented to the Mexican State in its review in September 2014.

CONFE AC, a member of Inclusion International and part of the Mexican Coalition for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities ( Coamex ) who participated in the development of one of the alternative reports , shall be represented by Raquel Jelinek (Council member of Inclusion International) and Taide Buenfil to expose the situation of disabled people in Mexico , focusing on people with intellectual disabilities.

On April 8th they will participate in an open discussion on the issue of the right to legal capacity ( Article 12 of the CDPCD ) , very important issue for people who have had that right violated. They will also participate in various meetings with members of Disability Rights Fund ( DRF ) and the International Disability Alliance ( IDA), international advisers who have been very close to Coamex , in preparing to participate in this Consultation with Civil Society Monitoring on monitoring the CRPD.
