Learn about The Right to Make Decisions

  • Read, discuss and share the back ground material provided by II for the Campaign
  • Attend and invite others to II Webinars on the topic they will be posted and promoted through II website
  • Attend Regional Conferences and II International Conference in Kenya June 2014
  • Share the website with your national and regional organizations and networks (you may have a news item and a link to the website in newsletters or on your website etc.)

Contribute to the Global Report

  • Report on initiatives in the theme that are happening in your country and/or with your organization by Completing the organizational survey on behalf of your national organization (or get someone from the organization to committee to do so). The survey is online and it will take no more than 10 minutes. This will help us identify initiatives that you are involved in at a country or community level that we can document and use to inform a global report.   • Report on the work that your organisation is doing with families and/or self-advocates nationally or at the community level to guarantee that people with disability are directing and controlling their own lives with the supports they need. We have developed a Guide to Report. The reports that you send to us will be used to develop the Global Report and they will be posted on the website (with permission
  • Send Case studies:

    • On supported decision making
    • Reviews of current legislation reforms and the implications for people with intellectual disability
    • Others
  • Send us pictures/stories/experiences and videos that illustrate innovative practices that assist people to make decisions for themselves and to have control in their lives. Share with us
    • How supported decision making is being used
    • What is working
    • What are the challenges about the importance of having control in your life
    • What are the challenges about decisions you have made

    All these will be posted on the website and used to inform the discussion groups.

Use the Right to Decide Toolkit

The campaign toolkit includes:

  • The Background materials to help set the context and build a shared understanding of the Right to Decide and II Global Campaign.
  • Facilitation materials to support individuals and  organizations who want to host a discussion groups in their community
