Interview with Sigal Peretz Yahaloni, Director of AKIM Israel. Sigal describes the work of AKIM and the challenges people with intellectual disabilities and their families face in Israel.

AKIM, founded in 1951, is a national – person centered – parents organization, caring for the intellectually and developmentally disabled persons and their families, in Israel.

Today, AKIM is the largest and most comprehensive provider of programs and services for the intellectually disabled population – regardless of their faith, ethnic background or sex – serving 34,000 children, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens, as well as their 130,000 family members, throughout Israel.
