UNICEF: Understanding Obstacles on Inclusive Education in Latin America

Inclusion International with UNICEF LACRO are conducting a multi-country study on the barriers to inclusive education. The study will: provide useful direction on the design of inclusive education programmes and policies; and, support the strengthening of the capacity of civil society organizations, especially II members.

With leadership from II’s Catalyst for Inclusive Education, the study will look at three countries, Colombia, Paraguay and Peru. The study will draw from the vast knowledge and information around the practices of the educational system in these 3 countries. It be based on the perspectives of children and adolescents with and without disabilities and their families.

The study will provide a valuable tool that can be used for advocacy and as technical assistance.  The study will: provide useful direction on the design of inclusive education programmes and policies; and, support the strengthening of the capacity of civil society organizations, especially II members
