International Day of Persons with Disabilities

2014-02-1314.09.38Wednesday December 3rd is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Inclusion International invites our members and partners around the world to celebrate and promote the day by raising our collective voices in the pursuit of human rights and inclusion. Together we can “Break Barriers, Open Doors: for an inclusive society and development for all”

In 2014 we released the Global Report on the Right to Decide; Independent but Not Alone raising the voices of people with intellectual disabilities and their families and sharing our perspectives on the implementation of Article 12 of the UN Convention on the Rights of people with Disabilities.  The campaign marked the fourth Global thematic campaign of Inclusion International designed to create a global voice; build networks and support member organizations and others in their work at the country level.

It’s been a busy year for our global network (read our Profile and Activity report and November newsletter). We know that the work of our members and partners continues to make a difference in improving the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.   Help us continue to share experiences and knowledge by sending your stories; issues and questions to share on facebook  and follow us on twitter
