Hosted by our members in Paraguay, Fundacion Saraki on 9-11October.
The event held different sessions facilitating discussions with the main authorities of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) and other Government authorities, with Special Education Centers and with mainstream Schools and Centers.
In this event, the participants highlighted the challenges they encounter and the actions they should take as local actors, to implement Law No. 5136/13 of Inclusive Education.
The meeting was enriching because the different representatives of the civil society expressed their needs in first person and they got empowered to keep on fighting for the public policies on the matter.
Diane Richler, Chair of Catalyst for Inclusive Education, spoke about the importance of giving timely support to succeed in Inclusive Education and the skills special education professionals need to have to be able to transform education and achieving complete inclusion
Diane also addressed the myths and the facts of Inclusive Education, as well as the new challenges schools have regarding the new standards of educational quality.
