In January we shared our plans to hold our 2020 General Assembly in November in Sharjah, UAE.
We are writing to let you know that after much consideration and in light of the ongoing developments resulting from the coronavirus, including the health and safety of participants, travel restrictions and economic impacts we have made the difficult decision to cancel this event.
Our General Assembly provides a unique opportunity for our members to come together every 2 years to connect, learn from each other and make important decisions about the work of Inclusion International.
Whilst we are disappointed we will not be able to meet face to face this year we are developing a plan to host a virtual General Assembly to be able to conduct the essential business online. In order to maximize the participation for members throughout the world in different time zones, languages and with varying access to technology, we will organise a series of on-line meetings, webinars, votes and discussions over a period of time.
We will share the plans for the virtual GA with you when they have been developed. The nomination process for election of Officers and Council members will remain the same.
The uncertainty about how this pandemic will evolve and the impact it will have on our global movement may also affect our future events, including our 2022 World Congress. We are monitoring the situation closely while considering our options and will keep you informed of any developments.
We thank you for your understanding and your support during these unprecedented times. We look forward to your contribution to a successful 2020 General Assembly.
In the meantime if you have any questions or comments please let us know.
