The Stakeholder Group of Persons with Disabilities (SGPWD) is the representative civil society body of persons with disabilities to the High Level Political Forum on the 2030 Agenda. The SGPWD is a network of persons with disabilities, disabled persons organizations and other allies.
Inclusion International has been working with this network to ensure the priorities of persons with intellectual disabilities and their families are reflected within the network and their publications. It is a large and often complicated process. While the membership to the SGPWD is open to anyone, Inclusion International is trying to simplify involvement for our members and be strategic in our engagement to ensure our members have current information and opportunities to input into key SGPWD efforts.
The International Disability Alliance (IDA) and International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC) have been coordinating efforts and the creation of working groups. Inclusion International has asked Fauzia Haji to represent our organization as part of the Working Group on Financing for Development to ensure that people with disabilities are represented in their work.
We will also be active in the Working Groups on: HLPF Voluntary National Reviews; bi-lateral meetings; and, side events. Additionally, we will be substantively engaged in the working groups that will produce position papers and submissions for the HLPF.
Each working group has an elected focal point. Inclusion International’s Anna MacQuarrie has been elected as the focal point for the working group on thematic issues – the working group responsible for developing 2 page papers on each of the goals to be reviewed at the 2017 HLPF.
If you would like to be directly involved in any of these working groups, please let Anna MacQuarrie, email@example.com, know and she can support you to get involved. We will be reporting to our membership and Council regularly on these activities and sharing engagement opportunities as they arise.
