Sir Robert Martin, our former self-advocate representative for Asia-Pacific and honorary member, is the first and only person with intellectual disability to be on a UN Committee. Over the last 4 years as an expert on the Committee of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, he has worked hard ensuring the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities are not forgotten and pushing for important issues such as deinstitutionalization and recognition of legal capacity to be implemented by Governments through the country reviews but also through the powerful speeches he gave in the different events.
Robert Martin says, ‘I have more to give” and we are convinced he does. Inclusion International provides its full support to Robert Martin to be re-elected for a further term in the upcoming vote at the Conference of State Parties on the 30th of November.
