Care and Support with Families – What We Shared with the UN
Virtual
Inclusion International is holding a network meeting on Tuesday 24 June to talk about care and support systems for people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
This session will introduce our Transformative Care and Support project, supported by the SAGE Fund. The project is working with members to challenge how care and support systems are designed and delivered.
We’ll also present the key points we shared with the UN Special Rapporteur on Disability, in response to their recent call for input about the role of families in providing care to children with disabilities.
We gathered stories from across our network: about the pressure families face, the support that is missing, and the barriers that stop people with intellectual disabilities and their families from getting what they need.
Finally, we’ll open the space for a network consultation. We want to hear your reflections on these key messages. Are they true to your experience? Are there gaps? What else needs to be said?
This meeting will be in English.
