A big part what we do is supporting the work of our members.

Sometimes our members will have a key issue they need support with to advance inclusion in their country.

Our Programmes and our Projects are ways we can support them with this work.

What do we mean by ‘Programmes’?

Programmes are a way to help members learn more about a topic, so they can make their work in their country stronger.

They are ways of working that help members get expertise, training or resources. This is sometimes called “capacity building”.

We have programmes on different topics.

Some of our programmes are:

Programmes will do work and make training and resources at the global level – not focused on just one country.

Members in any country can engage with our programmes at any time.

What do we mean by ‘Projects’?

A ‘project’ is when we work with a member or with a few members in a specific country.

Projects are for a limited amount of time – for example, they might be for two or three years and then end.

Projects will be on a topic that is important to our members in the country the project is in.

Members who are part of projects get support from Inclusion International to do work on a topic in their country.

Here are some examples of projects we have done:

  • Working with members in Africa to create strong self-advocacy groups
  • Doing research with members in different countries about sexual and reproductive health
  • Working with members in Asia-Pacific and Africa to help people with intellectual disabilities get jobs

You can read more about the projects we have done in the Projects and Programme Listing.

Sometimes, tools from our programmes might also be part of one of our projects.

For example, if we have a project on making self-advocacy stronger in a country, the project might have a training from the Empower Us programme and a training from the Listen Include Respect programme as part of the activities, plus other activities the member will do in their country.

Other times, the project will be about a topic we do not have a programme for.
