Empower Us is our programme to support self-advocate leadership to grow.

The Empower Us programme was created by self-advocates, for self-advocates.

The programme is based on an accessible training about human rights, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD), and how to advocate for rights in a group.

Self-advocate leaders from around the world travel as trainers to meet with different groups of people with intellectual disabilities who want to become self-advocates, and train them to form a self-advocacy group.

The new self-advocacy groups get ongoing support to do advocacy in their community after the training.

Self-advocate leaders will be travelling to Kasama, Zambia, in August to support a group of people with intellectual disabilities from our member Friendly Barn Development Foundation to become a new self-advocacy group.
