This year, many of us will come together in person at the World Congress in Sharjah.

This will be the first time that many of us have been able to meet face to face since our last World Congress in Birmingham, UK in 2018. 

Our Articles of Association say that we need to bring together the General Assembly every other year. 

To make the most of the time we have together in person in Sharjah, our President, Sue Swenson, has called an extraordinary General Assembly – an additional GA in a year that we wouldn’t normally have one.

This Extraordinary General Assembly will happen in person in Sharjah. For members who will not be in the United Arab Emirates, there will also be an option to attend online on Zoom.

When is the Extraordinary General Assembly?

This Extraordinary General Assembly will be on Thursday, September 18th, 2025. This is the day after the World Congress finishes.

The Extraordinary General Assembly will be a half day – it will run from 9am GST (UAE time) until 1pm.

Who can attend the Extraordinary General Assembly?

The General Assembly is a gathering of the full members of Inclusion International, but other members can also attend.

Full members can send up to three representatives to the General Assembly. 

Affiliate members can send up to two representatives to the General Assembly.

Individual members are also able to attend the General Assembly.

Note that affiliate members and individual members cannot vote at the General Assembly – only full members in good standing are able to vote.

People who are not members of Inclusion International cannot attend.

What will happen at the Extraordinary General Assembly?

At the General Assembly we plan to talk about the following topics:

  • President and Vice-President’s Report on the work of our organisation
  • Treasurer’s Report
  • Report from the Secretary General
  • Future leadership of Inclusion International – Workshop and membership discussion

Members at the General Assembly will have a chance to ask questions, and talk about future leadership face to face in a group discussion.
