Logos of Education Cannot Wait, Inclusion International, and the International Disability Alliance

From 2023 to 2026, Inclusion International and the International Disability Alliance (IDA) worked with national partners ASDOWN Colombia and the Fédération Nigérienne des Personnes Handicapées (FNPH), on making sure that children with disabilities are not left behind in emergency settings in Colombia and Niger.

This project has developed a comprehensive suite of practical tools and resources that will support humanitarian organisations, organisations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), and other actors to deliver fully inclusive education in emergencies (EiE).

Join Inclusion International, the International Disability Alliance, and project funder Education Cannot Wait (ECW) for this global launch of our practical tools and resources.

designed to build capacity, address systemic barriers, and guarantee access to inclusive education in emergencies (EiE). This one-hour online technical event will officially launch these global public goods, sharing the evidence, tools, and best practices generated from pilot interventions in Colombia and Niger with the broader humanitarian and education sectors.

What to Expect

This one-hour online technical event will officially launch these global public goods, sharing the evidence, tools, and best practices generated from pilot interventions in Colombia and Niger with the broader humanitarian and education sectors.

During the event, the consortium will present the following co-developed resources designed for OPDs, humanitarian actors, teachers, and families:

  • Learning Through Crisis: Access to Education in Emergencies for Children with Disabilities: A comprehensive report detailing the real-world experiences, daily challenges, and barriers faced by children with disabilities and their parents in Colombia and Niger, collected directly in their own words.
  • Interactive Learning Tools:
    • An Introduction to Inclusive EiE: A Learning Tool for OPDs (building technical understanding of EiE and international frameworks).
    • Unlocking Inclusive EiE: A Learning Tool for Humanitarian Actors (an interactive simulation for bridging the gap between standards and practice).
  • Removing Barriers to Inclusive EiE: Accessibility Audit Toolkit: A joint audit tool for OPDs and humanitarian actors to assess and remove physical, logistical, and cultural barriers on the trip to school and inside the learning space.
  • Companion Resource for Families – Your voice matters! Asking for a safe trip to school: A direct advocacy guide empowering parents and caregivers to demand safe roads, accessible transport, and inclusive schools.
  • Methodology Case Studies & Training Modules: Actionable guides and online training modules covering how OPDs can strengthen Multi-Year Resilience Programmes (MYRPs), methodologies for engaging families as allies, equipping teachers for inclusive pedagogy (like Universal Design for Learning), and collecting qualitative data from children with disabilities.
