Webinar on the 2026 CRPD Committee Elections
Online
Every two years, States Parties elect members to the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
In 2026, nine committee members will be elected or re-elected for the 2027 to 2030 term.
In December 2025, the CRPD Committee Secretariat asked States Parties to nominate candidates. The deadline for nominations is 3 February 2026. Elections will take place during COSP19 in June 2026 in New York.
The United Nations is facing a serious liquidity crisis. This is affecting the work of the CRPD Committee. Sessions are cancelled or delayed. This makes the Committee’s work harder.
This webinar shares clear information about what is happening and what comes next.
We want to support our members and self-advocates to understand:
- How the election process works
- Who the candidates are
- What challenges the Committee is facing
- What this means for future elections
- What self-advocates need to know if they want to apply in the future
Who should attend:
- Self-advocates
- Families
- Organisations of people with intellectual disabilities
- Members interested in the CRPD Committee and its work
