These guidelines are developed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Inclusion International.

During 2020, we organized regional and national consultations with self-advocates from different countries to collect their views and experiences on political participation.

These consultations aimed to find out the challenges and obstacles that persons with intellectual disabilities face when taking part in the political life.

The participants gave recommendations to Governments and other actors involved in the political life to support people with intellectual disabilities to fully participate and be included as candidates and voters.

The guidelines provide information to decision makers and NGOs on how to ensure their processes are inclusive of persons with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities.

You can find the guidelines and share it with the decision makers in your country here.
