This learning brief talks about gender-based violence and how it affects girls and women with intellectual disabilities.

The learning brief includes:

  • Information from focus group discussions with self-advocates in Kenya and Lebanon. The self-advocates talked about their experiences of violence, discrimination, and the challenges they face.
  • Recommendations for organisations on how to better support girls and women with intellectual disabilities who have experienced violence. This includes having good communication, planning inclusive programs, and working with local disability organisations.
  • Ideas and resources from the International Rescue Committee (IRC) Lebanon team and Inclusion International on making services and information more accessible.

This resource provides important information and guidance for organisations working to address gender-based violence. It aims to ensure their work is inclusive and accessible for girls and women with intellectual disabilities.
