Dear Friends,

I am writing on behalf of the Officers of Inclusion International to share the news that our CEO, Connie Laurin-Bowie, will be leaving Inclusion International to accept a new position in the disability human rights field.

As you know, Connie has been key to our achievements over the last 20 years. She will be hard to replace in our organization but will always have a place in our hearts.

This decision is a significant moment for me, filled with pride in what we have achieved together and excitement for the future.

It has been a privilege to work alongside self-advocates, families, and organisations across our network. The strength of our movement has always been in its people, and I know Inclusion International will continue to be a powerful voice for change. We have supported one another to transform lives and communities, and I am confident this work will continue to grow.

I am deeply grateful for your trust, collaboration, and commitment to inclusion over the years. Working with so many dedicated people has been an honour. I look forward to seeing many of you at the World Congress, where we will celebrate the progress we have made together.

Connie Laurin-Bowie, CEO, Inclusion International

Connie will continue in her role as CEO until April 14th and is fully committed to supporting this transition.

I am also happy to report that Connie intends to attend the World Congress in Sharjah in September, so that gives you one more reason to be there!

Inclusion International’s Officers are meeting regularly to map out a plan and a process to meet the challenge head-on. We have appointed Manuela Hasselknippe, our Director of Finance and Programmes as Interim Executive Director. She is working with Connie and the Officers to ensure a smooth transition.

We will be consulting carefully with all members of the Secretariat, with the Council, and with our strong Member networks as well as with other stakeholders on the recruitment. We hope to do all of this and have the new executive in place before the World Congress so that they can meet you there.

Please join me in wishing Connie all good things in her new endeavour.

Warm regards,

Sue Swenson
President
