The Officers of Inclusion International have given formal notice of our plans for a meeting of the General Assembly (GA) in 2025.

This year, many of us will come together in person at the World Congress in Sharjah.

This will be the first time that many of us have been able to meet face to face since our last World Congress in Birmingham, UK in 2018.

Our Articles of Association say that we need to bring together the General Assembly every other year.

Our last General Assembly was held online in November 2024 – you can read the meeting minutes here.

To make the most of the time we have together in person in Sharjah, our President, Sue Swenson, has called an extraordinary General Assembly – an additional GA in a year that we wouldn’t normally have one.

At the General Assembly we plan to hear reports from the Officers:

  • An update about the work of our organisation from our President and Vice President
  • Treasurer’s Report
  • Secretary General’s report

We will also have a workshop about the future of leadership within our network. It is an important time to have this conversation, because in 2026, we will be looking for a new President Elect for Inclusion International.

The extraordinary General Assembly will take place on Thursday, September 18th, from 9am – 1pm.

Who can come to the General Assembly?

Full members are welcome to bring up to three representatives to the General Assembly.

Affiliate members are welcome to bring up to two representatives. Please note that only full members can vote at General Assemblies.

Members can register to attend the General Assembly as part of their World Congress registration.

You can read the agenda and timeline for the General Assembly below.

What will happen at the General Assembly?

At the General Assembly we plan to talk about the following topics:

  • President and Vice-President’s Report on the work of our organisation
